I would like to start off this post by giving a shoutout to Dylan Eschenburg of the Sherrill Silversmiths for his beautiful mustache that he's been working on very diligently this season.  Dylan is a middle infielder from Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan.

This season we have had many come-from-behind victories thanks to our rally antics to try to spark some rally magic. The Silversmiths and other teams throughout the league use these rally traditions to score a timely run and to get a laugh out of it. Sure, these rallies are childish and at times obnoxious but they are even more clever and fun. Rallies bring teams together and keep everybody loose in an attempt to create some sally magic.  My team has been know for the “Rally Bandit” also which is made from folding your hat in half, while tucking the brim into your shirt leaving the top of the hat covering half of your face, as if you were a bandit.

There are many other types of rally traditions such as the classic “Rally Cap”, originally started by the New York Mets in 1985.  The "Rally Cap" is made by folding your hat inside out and wearing it on your head during an inning.

Over the years the rally cap has taken different styles such as the “Rally Dr. Seuss Hat” used by the Clemson baseball team, where everyone on the team will stack all of their hats on one teammates head.

There is also the “Rally First Name” where you simply call everyone by their first name for an inning, including chatter. You have no idea how many guys on the team you don't ever call by their first names until you do this.

Another Silversmith favorite is the “Rally Shark” Players fold their hats like they did for "Rally Bandit" but now place them on their heads and cover one half of their head with the bill running along the top like a mohawk, or shark fin.
