So far the Silversmiths have been able to turn turn around our 0-4 record to 4-4, leaving us with a 4 game game win streak. We still have some things we have to work at but it's been pretty awesome to watch how we have been playing as a team.  We have been having great starts lately from our pitching staff.

Payton Logan, a lefty pitcher from Fort Scott Community College pitched an 7 inning gem, giving up 2 hits and one run against the Geneva Redwings.  The one run came from a two out (very questionable) balk in the first inning.  Also Kevin Carpentier pitched a complete game two hitter over this weekend to give us a 6-2 win over the Syracuse Saltcats.  These two performances from our pitchers definitly gave the rest out our team a spark with our hitters (including myself) taking much better approaches at the plate cutting down the strikeouts and putting the ball in play.

Also, our bullpen has been doing a great job of pitching to contact and getting ahead in the count early.  With things going well with our team we still have to focus on the next set of games and make sure we take care of business and continue to play good baseball and continuing to play within ourselves.

This week will be hectic for us Silversmiths and most teams in the NYCBL with a week full of double headers to make up for the rainouts from the past week.  Almost all of our games will be in western New York as we play the Rochester Ridgemen tonight, then the next day playing the Geneva Redwings followed up by playing the Geneva Twins later that night.
The talent that I get to watch and play with varies from game to game.  In pre game I've seen outfielders rifle a ball from the corner of right field to hit their catcher in the chest at the plate.
Other players hit towering home runs into the deepest part of the parks, and pitchers with who will shatter your bat if you don't get your hands around in time.  Before a game it can sometimes be intimidating since I don't come from a big school and I don't have qualities of other players but I always remind myself that they have to still pitch the ball, catch the ball and hit the ball just like I do, and this game is no different then any other game.
