Today's game we play the Geneva Redwings One of my favorite parts about playing in the NYCBL is the former Minor League parks that get the privlige to play in such as McDonough Park, home to minor league baseball From 1958-1993.  It has since been home to two college summer league teams, the Geneva Twins and the Geneva Redwings.  You can find McDonough Park in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Geneva, New York.

This park is where baseball's all-time hit leader, Pete Rose, played his first professional game in 1960.  Other Major league players have also played here such as Tony Perez, Doug Glanville and also one of my favorite players to watch for a short time Rich Garcis.

McDonough Park has hand-painted outfield signs, and warped wooden bleacher seats, very similar to Oneonta's Damaschke Field bleachers.  Behind  the Red Wings Dugout there is a “Party Deck” where you can find drunken fratboys heckle the living day lights out of you during the game, which is always pretty funny.  My favorite part about playing in this park is the unique older setting giving a very historical feel when playing, similar to playing at Double Day Field in Cooperstown.

This is just one of the many hidden treasures of baseball parks in upstate New York, with a wonderful atmosphere for baseball.  Playing in parks like this give me a great experience of Americas past time and its history.
