Since the turn of the century, there have been some constants in New York sports. The Yankees are most likely to be pretty good and make the playoffs. The Giants will win a Super Bowl every decade or so. The Mets are bad, ok, good and then will collapse. The Jets are terrible and yes, they won on Sunday but have a long way to go before that classification is lifted. I will provide Robert Saleh a receipt for that statement for his files.

However, let's look at the positive signs for New York sports. Something symbolic did happen on Sunday that has not happened in 13 long years. The Yankees, Mets, Giants and yes even the Jets were all victorious on the same day. The last time was September 27, 2009. Why is this significant? Honestly, because all four of the franchises seem to be going in a good direction, yes, even the Jets.

The Yankees under the steady hand of Brian Cashman have little to worry about. Hal Steinbrenner knows he has a good thing going, even if they haven't won a World Series ring since...2009. Hmmm. Seeing Aaron Judge break Roger Maris' record wont stink for fans either! The Mets are in far better ownership hands, with Steve Cohen, than they have been since the day the Wilpons pushed Nelson Doubleday out the door and took full control. Cohen is building a baseball braintrust that is proving to be successful already.

As for the Big Apple's NFL teams, the Giants seem to have hit the jackpot in the hiring of general manager Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll. No, 2-0 Big Blue is not going to go undefeated this season nor win the Super Bowl but the fans can finally breathe easily that there team will be prepared to win football games. Good coaching along with enough talent to keep them in some games this year, is all that fans can ask. Similar things can be said for the Jets, though there are still question-marks surrounding general manager Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh's franchise quarterback Zach Wilson. If he fails, Douglas and Saleh will, as well. If he succeeds, it could be a new era of sports prosperity in New York City.

As far as western New York goes, there is little doubt that we will see the Buffalo Bills make it deep into the playoffs and most likely representing the AFC in Super Bowl LVII. Things are looking up for New York sports fans, even the New York Knicks may be heading in the right direction. Ending a 13 year draught may spin some luck come playoff time for all New York sports teams.
