Have you been thinking that it's just crazy that big retail stores are now opening on Thanksgiving in an attempt to draw early Black Friday shoppers?  You are not alone.  Lawmakers in Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island are now prohibiting stores from opening on Thanksgiving.  Of course to counteract this law, large stores like Walmart and Target are opening just after midnight on Thanksgiving night.  Officials from Target are claiming that they've had more employees volunteer to work than they need.

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and the Massachusetts Retailers Association say they'll look into legislation that could reverse the laws, but if the laws are changed "it would have to be voluntary to work, and there would be premium pay just like we have on other holidays."

My question is, do we really need to start Black Friday on Thursday?  I say no.  Let people have their Thanksgiving holiday.  What do you think?
