Although the price of gas has come down by a few cents in the last couple of weeks, many people who need to travel for one reason or another are still seriously considering flying to their destination instead of driving there.

If you're someone who is planning to book a flight in the near future, there is one Southern Tier airport that is definitely more expensive to fly out of than the rest.
Finance Buzz wanted to take a good hard look at the cost for the average person to fly out of different regional airports in the United States and so they researched 95 regional airports from the west coast all the way to the east coast.
Each of the smaller airports has been given a classification as being a "non-hun" by the Federal Aviation Administration however, they each provide service to over 100,000 travelers each year.
The very cheapest small regional airport to fly out of in the United States is Arnold Palmer Regional Airport which is located in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The average flight out of Arnold Palmer Regional Airport is $105.81.
On the other hand, the most expensive regional airport to fly out of in the United States is Aspen-Pitkin County/Sardy Field Airport in Aspen, Colorado. The average flight out of Aspen-Pitkin County/Sardy Field Airport is $581.88.
So, where does our Southern Tier regional airport fall on the list, and which airport is it?
Coming in at number seven on the most expensive regional airports list is Ithaca Tompkins Regional in Ithaca. The average flight out of Ithaca Tompkins Regional will set you back at around $457.86.
