Legislation broadening the the scope of New York’s workplace anti-discrimination and sexual harassment protections is now in effect according to Governor Cuomo's office. Among the new provisions is the removal of a restriction that harassment be “severe or pervasive” in order for it to be legally actionable. It also adds confidentiality requirements in employment discrimination cases along with permitting individuals and attorneys to seek financial awards in employment discrimination cases.
