Public education is a hot topic these days with the newly, New York State adopted C.O.R.E. curriculum and state testing are at the heart of heated controversy with educators and parents.  Find out the impact and all about understanding what is now going on in your child's classroom with a public forum event on November 6th from 6pm to 8pm at SUNY Oneonta's Morris Hall (Otsego Grill, downstairs).

Free childcare will be provided.  This event is sponsored by The Oneonta Area for Public Education, a coalition of parents, teacher and community members.

This forum will give people a chance to speak their minds about state mandated testing and more, and help people understand what's going on from different perspectives presented by a discussion panel.

Dr. Kjersti VanSlyke-Briggs, Assistant Professor of English Education at SUNY Oneonta gives details below on the issues in education right now and the forum.
