Today is the Great American Smokeout and the perfect day to quit smoking!  Don't worry, there's plenty of help.  Here are just a few quit tips courtesy of TobaccoFree.org:

1.  First thing's first:  you have to admit that you actually have an addiction to smoking.
2.  Quit with help:  those who get help with quitting are much more likely to succeed. Simple right?
3.   There are so many ways to stop smoking, you might be surprised...
- nicotine replacement and Zyban. The nicotine patch  or gum are now available
over-the-counter at any pharmacy. The anti-depressant Zyban and nicotine
inhaler require a prescription.
- The Schick-Shadel Treatment Centers offer aversion therapy: consists of
self-administered mild electric shock from an ordinary 9 volt battery as one
smokes a cigarette.
- hypnosis to quit: addresses your unconscious reasons for smoking.
- yoga deep breathing technique: (this is perhaps the single most powerful
technique and is based on yoga). Every time you get that craving to have a
cigarette, do the following three times:  Close your eyes and inhale the deepest
lung-full of air you can, and then, very slowly, exhale. As you exhale, allow your
chin to slowly move downward to your chest.  Visualize all the tension leaving
your body, slowly leaving your body by way of your fingers and toes.
- Free counseling:  Call 1-800-QUIT NOW for free support with a trained
counselor.  Specific to our state, call 1-800-NY-QUITS.
- Join a support group for those who have quit smoking.
