There's a nip in the air at night now and Fall will soon be here.  It's a reminder to get in all the fun, outdoor recreation we can.  A great opportunity to do just that with your kids is tomorrow at Hodges Pond in Neahwa Park, Oneonta for the 56th Annual Fishing Derby, sponsored by the Oneonta Recreation Department and the Susquehanna Bass Association

The event is a free "catch and release" competition for kids ages 5 to 15.  All participants must bring their own fishing equipment and bait.  Parents must register their children from 3pm to 3:45pm so that they can participate on Saturday, August 17th at the Recreation office in Neahwa Park.  The derby will begin promptly at 4pm and last for one hour.  There will be a short awards ceremony following the event with trophies awarded to winners and all participants will be recognized.

This is a rare opportunity to fish in Hodges Pond in the park, so bring the kids out and enjoy what promises to be a beautiful day for this event.  For more information, call the Oneonta Rec office at 432-0680.
