Stuffed Animals Are Taking Over My House! How to Downsize?

Did you know that it's National Bring Your Teddy Bear To Work and School Day?  If only I still had one!  Do you?  You could always borrow one from one of your kids.  If they'll part with it.  That's a problem in my house.

My kids are very possessive about their stuffed animals.  Any attempt to pair down the pile in their rooms is met with a huge glare and crossed arms.  They know EXACTLY how many they have and exactly what they are. Not only that, but if I question them about a particular one that I know they never doing anything with, they automatically reply that it's their favorite (yeah, right). There's no fooling them, even if I attempted to sneak some off to a local charity.  They always know when something is gone.  As you can probably tell, I've tried this downsizing tactic in the past.  Maybe I should just let the stuffed toys take over their bedrooms and wait for my kids to finally have enough?  It's hard to get kids to let go of things so feel free to share your ideas.
