Federal prosecutors say a Chenango County man faces up to 20 years in prison for receiving child pornography with another 20 years each for three counts of possessing child porn.

42-year-old Brian Whipple of New Berlin pleaded guilty February 14 to receipt and possession of Child pornography using peer-to-peer file sharing programs from 2009 to 2020.

Authorities say when Whipple was arrested in June of 2020, he had over five-thousand images and videos of child pornography on a cell phone, DVDs and a thumb drive.

When he is sentenced in June, Whipple is also expected to be fined up to 250-thousand dollars per count and required to pay restitution to the victims. A probation term of five years to life following his release is also expected to be imposed and Whipple will be required to register as a sex offender.
