My NY Excelsior Pass Expires This Month-Is My Vaccination Status Void?

If you got vaccinated and signed up for the Excelsior Pass which digitally proves to businesses and entertainment venues throughout the state that you have been vaccinated, you will notice there is an expiration date at the bottom.

It's funny because I noticed this shortly after I got vaccinated. I asked questions to myself like, "So I am no longer vaccinated after September 28th at midnight?" or "I can't prove my vaccination status after that date?". I found out that there is an update and an upgrade you can do to make sure it doesn't expire.

According to WKBW.com, you will need to upgrade to the Excelsior Pass Plus. This is also free and instead of just being accepted within New York State, it will also prove and confirm vaccination status and negative COVID test results in other states and be recognized around the world. This is because New York State has teamed up with SMART Health Cards Framework.

If you do have the Excelsior Pass and notice that there is an expiration date at the bottom don't worry. All you have to do is open up your Excelsior Pass app on your phone and then click to upgrade to Excelsior Pass Plus. You will be prompted to answer a few questions and then get a code to complete the process. It took me about two minutes to do it. Now I don't have to worry about bringing my vaccination card everywhere. I have it right on my phone.

If you don't have the original Excelsior Pass, you can get it in your app store and then put in your information from your vaccine card to get started.
