‘Eggnog Day’ Deserves a Great Eggnog Recipe

We all know that eggnog gets the nod as "the" holiday drink of the season and I must admit that I've never been a big fan, at least not until now.  I have discovered the "ultimate" eggnog drink after some experimenting.  I was inspired by a Food Network recipe that I found on-line and then tweaked it to please.

Ingredients to gather: 

• 1 quart eggnog (you may want a few quarts on hand because this is so darn good)
• 1/2 cup white rum (I like the more expensive brands to avoid the "cheap" liquor headache)
• 1/2 cup Godiva chocolate liqueur
• 1 can of whipped cream
• shaved chocolate, for garnish (you can experiment with white, dark, milk, or flavored chocolates)
• a few dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine the eggnog, rum, and chocolate liqueur. Pour into a small bowl, a one drink portion.  Whisk in cinnamon and nutmeg until it's frothy.  Pour into a martini glass and top with a dollop of whipped cream and top that with a sprinkle of nutmeg and shaved chocolate.
