There have been quite a number of novelty songs over the years, but for me, one stands out above the rest...Steve Martin and the Toot Uncommon's "King Tut", released in 1978.  The song pays homage to Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun (King Tut) and presents a caricature of the sensational "Treasures of Tutankhamun" traveling exhibit that toured seven U.S.cities from 1976 to 1979. I love the "Saturday Night Live" performance of that song where loyal subjects appease a joyful King Tut with kitchen appliances. It's hilarious and a must see so check it out below.

Steve Martin's talents are numerous: successful actor, comedian, author, playwright, pianist and banjo player. I find him to be one of my all time favorite comedians and it stands to reason that I would love any novelty song he puts out.
