What’s the statute of limitations on the score of a high school baseball game? I’m sure everyone involved in the April 5th game between Licking Heights High School in Pataskala, Ohio, and Harvest Prep are asking themselves that very question after Licking Heights lambasted Harvest Prep 65-0 after only 3 innings. The game had to be called due to darkness believe it or not. I guess you could say that Licking Heights gave Harvest Prep a licking they’ll never forget. The coach of the winning team, Jeff Boyer said it was the most awkward he'd ever felt in 34 years of coaching and also says, "We didn't run on passed balls; we didn't take extra bases or any of those kinds of things." Was Licking Heights really that good or was Harvest Prep really that bad? Maybe we should be asking, is there some way to avoid this type of horrible embarrassment? I don’t think either team feels good in a situation like this since it’s clearly no contest. Perhaps there should be a 3 inning “no contest” rule for situations like this one? By the way, there could be a lot more awkwardness on the way since the same two teams have to play each other again this Monday, April 22.
