A crash on I-88 Monday night in the Town of Maryland just after 5:00 p.m. resulted four people ending up in the hospital, including a New York State Trooper and a 3-year-old child. According to New York State Police Troop C, the crash happened when a trooper was engaged in a traffic stop in the eastbound lane. He had pulled over a 21-year-old female with a 3-year-old child from Edwardsville, P.A. in the vehicle. The trooper's SUV was then rear-ended by a 32-year-old female from Richmondville, NY, who failed to move over into the left lane as required by law. The trooper's SUV then slammed into the car that the trooper had pulled over.

All involved, including the trooper sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital. The trooper, along with the 21-year-old and 3-year-old all sustained head and neck injuries while the 32-year-old female driver sustained injuries to her knee and arms.

At the scene, troopers were assisted by members from the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department. The crash is still under investigation.
