Otsego County Conservation Association (OCCA) and Mohican Farm continue their 2019 Be Informed! Lecture Series with a program on the known and anticipated impacts of two different invasive species on Wednesday, November 20, from 6:30-8:00pm at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown.

In A Decade of Zebra Mussels: Impacts and Challenges in Otsego Lake, Holly Waterfield, Research Support Specialist at the SUNY Oneonta Biological Field Station will discuss ecological changes that have taken place in Otsego Lake since the establishment of zebra mussels around 2007, and will touch on the challenges this invader has created for those who play and work on the water.

Also on the agenda is Emerald Ash Borer: Current Status and the Way Forward. Jonathan Rosenthal, Director of the Ecological Research Institute, will discuss the current status of emerald ash borer in Otsego and adjacent counties, what can be expected in terms of its spread and impacts, and what can be done to best prepare for and respond to this pest.
