An investigation continues into the fire that destroyed the East Branch Methodist Church in the town of Hancock yesterday morning.  According to the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department, officials report that the Hancock Fire Department was assisted by fire crews from East Branch, Cooks Falls-Horton, Downsville, Deposit, Walton, Roscoe, and Liberty, along with support from the Delaware County Office of Emergency Services, Delaware County Cause and Origin Team, Sullivan County Bureau of Fire and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control as well as Hancock and Downsville EMS.

A preliminary investigation points to an electrical malfunction as the cause.
