Awe-Inspiring: Calling ALL Former CNY Maple Festival Queens
They had to make it a drive-thru event last year but this year it's back and they are ready to celebrate in a BIG way. It's the 50th anniversary of the CNY Maple Festival in Marathon New York.
For many of us, the Maple Festival is the sign that spring is here and it's time to shake (preferably a Maple milkshake) away that pesky cabin fever. The celebration officially begins on Saturday, April 2nd with a pancake eating contest at 9 a.m.
I've been invited back and I'll be chowing down flapjacks to help the Women's Hope Home in Johnson City. You can read about the Women's Hope Home here and if you're interested in donating to the pancake eating contest, venmo @WomensHopeHome, notate "Pancake Eating Contest" and 100% goes to the Women's Hope Home.
CNY Maple Festival Parade in Marathon
That will be followed by the 50th Anniversary Parade at 12 p.m. The parade will march down Main Street and end at the school grounds. After the parade, they will dedicate the Mobile Maple Sugar Shack to the late Wayne Fox.
After that, everyone is invited to the Maple Mobile Ramp, where they will dedicate the new ramp in memory of Jerry Griep. You can check out all the festivities here and speaking of the 50th Anniversary Parade.
Calling All Former Maple Festival Queens
They are looking for all former CNY Maple Festival Queens to participate in the parade. If that is you or you know a former Queen, you are encouraged to reach out to Shelley Warnow at (607) 849-6071. You are encouraged to bring your crown and sash (if you still have it) and you'll be recognized during the parade.
2022 Maple Festival Queen Pageant in Marathon
Before the festival officially begins on Saturday, April 2nd, there is the Maple Festival Queen Pageant on Friday night, April 1st. One year, I was privileged to be a judge for this fabulous event and I saw all the hard work that these young ladies put into it.
This year, 11 girls will compete to become the 2022 Maple Festival Queen at the Marathon High School auditorium. It begins at 7:30 p.m. and if you have a daughter, this is an event that you want to take them to. It's elegance and class all the way.
Speaking of elegance and class here's another event that brought beauty and excellence together. Tim Tebow's Night To Shine at Two Rivers Church.
