Close Friends Are Worth The Effort

I recently got together for a weekend of fun in the sun with four girl friends whom I've known for twenty years.  When I came back refreshed and happy from my weekend of fun and tons of laughter, I felt incredibly lucky to have this group of ladies still in my life.

Of course amidst all the giggles and pure silliness, there is plenty of serious sharing about each of ours lives, including it's challenges.  What more could a person ask for?  Close friends enrich my life in so many ways.  There's a lot to be said for sharing the good and bad times throughout our lives.

It surprises me how many people I talk to don't really have a "close" friend.   They may have friends a plenty but not necessarily close friends.  When I ask "why?", the answer is always "Too busy" or "It's too much work".  Really?  I say, make time for close friends. It's well worth it!
