Today, June 17th is Barry Manilow's birthday.  He was born on this day in 1943 which makes him 70 today.  I can't claim to be a Barry Manilow fan now, but when I was a kid, we had plenty of his albums and certainly have always appreciated him as an amazing singer and songwriter.  In fact, according to Wikipedia, In 1978, five of his albums were on the best-seller charts simultaneously.  The only other artists that could claim that at the time were Herb Alpert, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Mathis.

The one Manilow song I would listen to over and over again as a kid was "Mandy".  I absolutely loved the sound of the piano in that song.  Listen below and you'll probably agree that Barry knew how to write a love song.
