I am now constantly reminded of my age when daily, I spin "classic hits of the 70's and 80's".  Sometimes, people even refer to songs from that time as "oldies"!  It gets even worse when I think about all the things I used and enjoyed while growing up that are now considered "vintage"All you have to do is peruse ebay.com to find that out.

Below are 10 things I grew up with and are now considered vintage.

1. The wind-up wrist watch.  Every once in a while, I would over-wind it and let's just say my watch did NOT like that!  I'll take a watch with a battery every time.

2. Atari game system.  Talk about rudimentary compared to today's video games!  But I didn't know any better.  The best part about Atari games was that they were simple and pretty much just required you to shoot something.

3. Column-shift cars.  I learned how to drive on a standard column-shift car.  Was that an awkward way to shift gears?  I had no idea since that's all I knew.

4. Reel to reel recorder.  Believe it or not, in my early radio days, I used to record callers on one of these!  Go ahead and ask me if I miss it.  No!

5. Oil popcorn popper.  My family had a popcorn popper like above that used oil in the bottom that the kernels sat upon and were stirred by a metal rotating rod.  It was GREAT popcorn!

6. Record player.  I had one up until a few years ago and almost never used it once cassette tapes arrived.  That leads me to my next vintage love...

7. SONY cassette Walkman.  I got countless hours out of my Walkman and thought I was totally cool when I was listening to it.

8. Rotary phone.  The major problem with this phone was that if you messed up dialing with your finger then you had to start all over again.  Another downfall was the giant cord that was always tangling up.  Blah!

9. Manual typewriter.  These early word processors were nothing short of cumbersome, weighing several pounds.  Needless to say they were NOT portable, although the hard carrying case leads one to believe it's portable.  Not only that, you do NOT want to make a typing mistake!

10. Metal roller skates.  Now I really feel old!  I used to skate for hours in our garage on these and it was a tiny space but it was better than nothing.
