Strawberry picking time is almost here in The Mohawk Valley Region. I've enjoyed blueberry picking many years past and have always wanted to try strawberry picking since there are some great local places to check out, but I always seem to miss the window of opportunity which typically comes around mid-June to early July.

Picking strawberries to load up your freezer is a great idea considering all the things you can do with strawberries: in pies and cakes, smoothies, put on cereal and yogurt, use as an ice cream topping, in salads...or you can just pop 'em in your mouth and enjoy without any need to dress them up. Now that I'm in a total mood for something with strawberries, I'll share with you my favorite strawberry treats: strawberry shortcake (of course!), chocolate-covered strawberries, strawberry pancakes, strawberry/rhubarb pie, and strawberries go great in salads. Is anyone hungry for strawberries?

Now that you're in the mood for some strawberry picking, below you'll find some great area farms to pick at. Doing the "you pick 'em" route is a great way to enjoy family time and save some money at the same time so consider picking at any of these local farms:
