Considering that healthcare workers everywhere have really been put to task with the coronavirus pandemic since March of 2020, it's amazing that any of them have anything left to give but then again, the human spirit, especially when it comes to the giving spirit, never ceases to amaze. This is certainly true for a group of generous and caring staff members at UHS Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton, NY.

According to hospital officials, every year during the holiday season, staff members help local families in need with a toy collection, and this year, it seems they went above and beyond. Not only were toys collected for 48 children this holiday season, but there were also five boxes of gifts collected for men and women currently serving away from home in the military and local shelter pets will benefit from $180 worth of supplies collected for cats and dogs at the Delaware Valley Humane Society in Sidney.

Efforts this year were a collaborative effort with Lisa Kinch in the hospital's Human Resources Department with help from Community Bank in Walton. Check out a few photos below from this heart-warming effort.

Another great example of giving back to the community was set by students and staff at South Kortright Central School when they had a very successful collection of food at the school to help Delaware County families served by Delaware Opportunities Inc. (as seen below).
