Devin K. Castillo, 19, Walton was arrested in Sidney Center after troopers received a complaint of a car rolled over on Main Street in Sidney Center at 3:36 a.m. on Saturday, Jan 11. When troopers arrived, they saw that four cars had been damaged, as well as a utility pole.

An investigation allegedly revealed that Castillo was driving a green Chevy pickup on North Main street when he left the roadway struck a parked Chevy Silverado, which then struck a Ford Escape, pushing it into a Hyundai Accent and the Hyundai into a utility pole. Castillo’s vehicle then allegedly came to rest on it’s side

Castillo refused to be transported by ambulance and also refused a breathalizer test. He was given a field sobriety test, which he allegedly failed, and arraigned in Sidney Court on a misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated charge. He was issued an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance.

A Sidney trooper at the scene allegedly identified Castillo as one of the three men seen on surveillance video on the evening Wednesday, Jan. 8, allegedly opening bottles of craft paint and using the paint to damage more than $250 worth of merchandise.

Castillo was then charged with Criminal Mischief, third degree, a felony. He was issued a ticket to the Town of Oneonta court and released.

Troopers are still seeking the other two suspects seen on the surveillance tape.
