Last night, I was just minding my own business and in my own little world, catching up on a TV show that I had recorded when was surprised with a Tornado Warning and Severe Thunderstorm Warning from the National Weather Service out of Binghamton.  I shouldn't have been surprised considering that when I took a moment to actually look outside, the sky was quite a scary black at 6:30pm.

My son arrived at that moment to see the Tornado Warning and immediately became concerned, commenting that he would be heading for the basement.  Of course I calmed his fears, stuffing down my own.  The sky certainly did have that eerie tornado look to it and the air was way to calm.  So I did what I thought practical people do: gathered flashlights, closed windows and curtains, put away yard items that could get damaged or blown away by high winds and muttered a few prayers.  That last was inspired by the memory of the recent tornado in Oklahoma.

Lucky for us, the worst blew around Oneonta and it was no big deal.  Whew!  Another miss.
