Remember the giant metal contraptions that dotted rooftops along the skyline in the not-so-distant past of the 1980's?  A huge TV antenna was mounted on the top of our family's house when I was growing up.  I can't tell you the amount of daily frustration it caused as I tried to turn the antenna dial sitting next to the TV (to just the right spot), which turned the huge contraption in an attempt to tune into one of the whopping four channels that would actually come in our our TV.  It was a see-saw procedure of maneuvering that darn dial back and forth since it would always go past the fine tuning point.  It would take an average of a five minutes to get it right so I would always have to make sure that in order not to miss the beginning of whatever show I wanted to watch, I had to plan ahead.  Now all I have to do to watch my favorite shows is hope that my DVR works properly.  Note: I'm on my 3rd DVR within one year's time. Hmmmm, that giant TV antenna is actually starting to look good.
