The Most Beloved and Memorable Mothers
With Mother's Day on the way, May 12, I think it's about time I bring up my list of the most beloved and memorable mothers in my humble opinion. You'll have to keep in mind that I grew up in the 1970's and 80's and my list definitely reflects that to some degree. This list is in no particular order.
- Mother Theresa--Mother Teresa lived from 1910 to 1997 and was a Roman Catholic nun who help care for the sick and needy: people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy, tuberculosis, and orphans
- Mother Nature--She's often referred to Mother Earth as well. Mother Nature embodies nature and is thought of as life-giving and nurturing.
- June Cleaver (portrayed by Barbara Billingsley) - Mother of Wally and Beaver, June was the mom everyone wanted to have on the TV series, "Leave It To Beaver".
- Olivia Walton (portrayed by Michael Learned) - Olivia was the Mother on the TV show, “The Waltons". With that many kids, she should be revered!
- Carol Ann Brady (portrayed by Florence Henderson) - Carol, mother of a blended family of 6 kids from the TV show, “The Brady Bunch”, was always fair and loved all the kids equally. What a great mom!
- Mother Goose-- Who doesn't know Mother Goose? She's that lovable character who was featured as the imaginary author of Mother Goose fairy tales and nursery rhymes.
- Mother Mary (Mother of Jesus) - Need I say more?
- The Mother Lode - It's ALL good when you hit the "Mother lode". That's when you either hit a money jackpot or originally, it referred to finding a major vein of gold or silver ore while mining.
