New York is named the most teacher-friendly state in America in a new study from personal finance website WalletHub. The study looked at 22 different indicators of job quality including income growth potential, pupil-teacher ratio and teacher safety.

Connecticut was second followed by Minnesota, Illinois and North Dakota. Hawaii was the lowest-ranked state. According to the National Center for Education Statistics about a fifth of all public-school teachers leave their positions before the end of their first year.
