Reported Plane Crash Near Hancock Was False Alarm

A report of a plane crash Monday evening near the Cannonsville Reservoir in Delaware County turned out to be a false alarm. Delaware County Emergency Services reported that they had received a report that a small aircraft triggered an emergency transponder which was picked up in New York City and the report was relayed to that agency. DCES reports the plane was found in a safe location. There’s been no word on why the transponder was enabled.
