This big metal slide probably looks quite familiar to most of you. Growing up with metal slides was a double dog dare on a hot, sunny day since it would be hot enough to probably fry an egg on, but boy was it fast!  Today's plastic slides can't begin to touch the speed of the old metal slides.  Maybe that's actually a good thing?

I remember one incident at Wilber Park in Oneonta when my son was little.  He demanded a ride down the metal slide that used to be there.  I was very reluctant, knowing full well how fast he was going to shoot down.  Would I catch him?  Would he fall off?  But of course, like all kids, he begged and begged and begged and I finally relented.  Guess what happened?  He flew down that slide like a bullet train and went right through my ready hands and plopped on his bottom.  As I was recovering from the shock of letting my little son slip through my fingers and imagining he was certainly going to be hurt, he burst out with a round of giggles and cried out, "More, more more!"
