If you typically avoid public pools because you think they can get too crowded then this summer should suit you perfectly due to new COVID-19 related pool protocols!  The Oneonta Family YMCA who partners with the City of Oneonta to operate Briggs Pool in Wilber Park invites area residents to come and enjoy the pool on the hot days of summer but there are some things you should know first.

  • City residents must get a free seasonal pool pass first which may be picked up at Briggs pool. You need proof of Oneonta city residency and photo ID.   • The pool can be enjoyed for Open Swim from 1-4pm, Family swim from 4-6:30pm, Reservations on the Hour: (45 min. swim/ 15 min. patron transition out for Staff Cleaning): 1:00-1:45 (Group 1 Reservations),  1:45-2:00pm (Transition out/ Staff Cleaning),  2:00-2:45pm (Group 2 Reservations), 2:45-3:00pm (Transition out/ Staff Cleaning), 3:00-3:45pm (Group 3 Reservations), 3:45-4:00pm (Transition out/ Staff Cleaning),  4:00-4:45pm (Group 4 Reservations), 4:45-5:00pm (Transition out/ Staff Cleaning), 5:00-5:45pm (Group 5 Reservations), 5:45-6:00pm (Transition out/ Staff Cleaning), 5:00-6:30 (Group 6 Reservations)
  • Swimming lessons for children are still available. There are 2 sessions: July 6-16, Mon-Thurs (Registration opens July 1st @ Wilber Pool) and then July 20-30, Mon- Thurs (Registration opens July 12th @ Wilber Pool)
