Oneonta City School District interim superintendent David Rowley outlined more proposed cuts to help close the $1.5 million budget gap the school is facing at the Board of Education meeting Wednesday night.

Rowley said the school is out of options and is now forced to make personnel cuts.

"The recommendations are about primarily secondary teachers," he said. "In this case, English, social studies and math primarily. I think we are approaching about an $800,000 savings at this particular time."

The savings include the previous cuts that were recommended at the Board of Education meeting two weeks ago.

Rowley also said he personally notified each of the teachers that were to be cut.

He also said unfortunately more recommended cuts are going to be necessary to some programs and personnel. Those cuts will be announced at the next Board of Education meeting on April 3.
