Amid a shortage of bus drivers, the City of Oneonta is now paying a $1,000 bonus for new hires at Oneonta Public Transit.  Drivers earn $13.50 – $18.00 per hour for day shifts and $17.50 – $22.00 per hour for night shifts based on experience. A Commercial Driver License with a passenger endorsement is required.

The $1,000 bonus will be paid in an attempt to attract quality candidates.  There is a nationwide bus driver shortage which is making it difficult to fill all positions.  The $1,000 sign on bonus will be paid this way.  Half of the bonus will be included in the driver's first pay check.  The second half of the bonus will be included in the driver's pay check after he or she completes six months on the job.

If you would like more details on becoming a City of Oneonta bus driver call (607) 432-0670 or visit the city's website at www.oneonta.com.

There are some qualifications that must be met in order to successfully complete the application process.  To qualify for the sign-on bonus a candidate must have at least one year of bus driving experience with a clean drivers’ abstract and must be willing to work any hours which OPT operates.

The Oneonta Public Transit operates a fixed bus route within the city and the town of Oneonta.  Routes cover all areas of the city and town including the campuses of both colleges.
