Oneonta, NY Warming Station Is Open To Save Homeless Lives
A safe option for those who are homeless seeking a warm place to sleep is now open for the season at 189 Chestnut Street in Oneonta, NY until the spring according to Lynn Glueckert, Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties.
The "warming station" is a collaborative effort between Catholic Charities and the Oneonta Main Street Baptist Church. Glueckert says that those in need can come to the warming shelter any night of the week from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. for shelter and warmth. In addition, there will be snacks and hot drinks available. Glueckert hopes to help those coming to the warming station get help with accessing more permanent housing by providing people with additional available resources for assistance.
