Today it's another hot sunny day and what better way to spend it than hitting the beach at one of our beautiful state parks in the region.

With the kids home for the summer and always looking for something fun to do, I have discovered that a trip to a lake is always the best recipe for family fun.  As a matter of fact, our family goal is to hit the beach at least once or twice a week this summer and we bought a New York State Park Pass to help get us there.  There are three state parks with beaches in our region that we have been enjoying this summer: Gilbert Lake State Park, Oquaga State Park, and Glimmerglass State Park.  I have yet to discover the East Sidney Dam, which I'm told has a beach and fishing so that will be next on my "hit" list.

I find nothing more relaxing than going to the beach, watching the kids play in the sand and water and enjoying a good book and a cool dunk.  It's takes you out of the fast paced, crazy world we live in and slows things down just for a bit.  So if you get a chance this weekend, take in one of regional parks and enjoy!
