The Marshall Tucker Band, whose 'Can't You See' was named UltimateClassicRock.com's greatest Southern rock song ever, will serve as grand marshals for this weekend's NASCAR racing event at the Las Vagas Motor Speedway.

"We're so excited to be associated with this Nationwide Series NASCAR race," says front man Doug Gray, the last remaining member of the group's classic-era lineup. "We've always been big supporters of NASCAR, so this opportunity came as a welcome surprise."

The Nationwide Series' Sam's Town 300 race will air live nationally on Saturday (March 9), beginning at 4PM ET on ESPN2. Tune in early to hear the Marshall Tucker Band shout, "Drivers, start your engines!"

Over the years, the group has seen three of its founding members pass, beginning with bassist Tommy Caldwell, who died in a 1980 automobile accident. Tommy's brother Toy Caldwell passed in 1993, having been the band's lead guitarist, vocalist on hits like 'Can't You See,' and principal songwriter. Rhythm guitarist George McCorkle died in 2007. Their highest-charting hit remains 'Heard It in a Love Song' from 1977's 'Carolina Dreams,' which went to No. 14 on the Billboard charts.

After the race, the Marshall Tucker Band is set to perform live at the Orleans Hotel and Casino.
