If you have owned an iPhone in the past or have one now, you may be eligible to receive a piece of the five hundred million dollar settlement. Here are the details and how to apply to get what's coming to you. According to News 10 ABC, there is a legal battle that has been going on for over a year where Apple was found negligent. Now there is a five hundred million dollar settlement and millions of iPhone users can submit their claim.

There were rumors that Apple was slowing down its iPhones on purpose. After a yearlong investigation, they admitted to the slow down by using software updates. Apple went on to say that they did this to protect their iPhones with older batteries. Customers believed it was done so that more people would buy newer, faster models and upgrade sooner.

Even though the settlement is for five hundred million dollars, most iPhone users are entitled to up to twenty-five dollars. There are certain requirements. You must have owned an iPhone before Dec. 21, 2017 and had experienced a slowdown.

The iPhones that are listed in the settlement along with the operating systems are:

  • iPhone 6 (iOS 10.2.1 or later)
  • iPhone 6s (iOS 10.2.1 or later)
  • iPhone 6s Plus (iOS 10.2.1 or later)
  • iPhone SE (iOS 10.2.1 or later)
  • iPhone 7 (iOS 11.2 or later)
  • iPhone 7 Plus (iOS 11.2 or later)

You will only be able to file one cash payment per iPhone. If you owned more than one, you will have to fill out a separate claim for each device. The deadline to file is October 6, 2020, and you can file your claim HERE.
