On Christmas Eve, I decided to get a jump on my new year's resolution to exercise daily.  It was prompted by my knees informing me with pain and discomfort, that I was not aging as gracefully as I would like and needed to get moving to feel better.

In my state of motivation, I knew that I would be good for a month or so but after that, I knew my resolve to exercise every day would be tested with schedule changes, bad weather (since I only walk outside), parent responsibilities, etc.  I'm not necessarily good at keeping the routine going.  Sound familiar?  These are challenges most people face.

Here's what I decided to do differently this time around to help me stay on course: I joined a group of like-minded people who need the same thing I do - support.  Let's face it, it's much easier to stay on track with a goal if there is at least one person beside yourself who holds you accountable each week.  I think I may have discovered the secret to my success.  If there's one piece of advice I can give to those who, like me, want to stay on track with their new year's resolution, find someone or a program that can keep you accountable on your progress.  I think that's the key ingredient to getting what you want.
