The Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested a Harpursville man late last week for criminal contempt on an active arrest warrant issued by the Town of Smithville court.

The sheriff's office, assisted by the Broome County Sheriff's office, arrested Gary J. Conklin for violating an order of protection during a domestic dispute in the Town of Smithville.

Conklin was arraigned in the Town of Smithville court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail. He will reappear in Smithville court at a later date.
