A Guns N’ Roses fan was reportedly forced to remove his Slash shirt before allowed into GN’R's London gig on May 31. James Revell, 18, took his story to NME as he felt disrespected by both the band and the venue when security denied Revell entrance into the O2 Arena.

This isn’t the first odd Guns N’ Roses story we’ve had recently. The band had been accused of ordering 20 models to be in the front row at their recent Scotland show, followed by the models getting backstage access to “party” with the band. This accusation was quickly swatted down by GN’R guitarist Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal.

According to NME, an unnamed source told the publication that Revell was forced to attend the show bare-chested under his jacket because “no one was allowed” to wear a Slash shirt to the concert. When the source asked a security guard if it was true, the guard allegedly replied, “We were told by the management not to allow anyone into the O2 Arena who is wearing a Slash T-shirt and we are asking anyone who is to remove it and if they refuse they will be turned away.”

Revell himself spoke with NME to tell his side of the story. “I felt very angry because I was looking after my little brother at the time and felt as though my freedom to wear what I want had been taken away from me,” says Revell. “However, I did not react angrily as I didn’t want to spoil the show for him.”

The fan continued, “I believe they asked me to do this because Axl Rose has some problem with Slash and if he saw me wearing the shirt he might have stormed off stage.”

Guns N’ Roses began the show over an hour after its scheduled start time, which isn’t that bad considering GN’R's history, but Revell feels as if it was another proverbial middle-finger pointed at the fans. “I have never experienced anything as insulting as that at a concert before,” says Revell. “And I had to sit there in my little brothers jumper and wait for Axl to turn up well over an hour late, which we could only stay to watch 3 songs as we had to catch a train back. I think that Axl Rose doesn’t appreciate his fans or anyone for that matter, he needs to grow up and stop acting like a child.”

While we can’t confirm Revell’s claims, we do know that classic GN’R member Izzy Stradlin showed up to perform some tunes with the band. Check out video footage here.
