There is something new to do this summer at the Mohawk Harbor. Discover Schenectady has announced the Mohawk River Boat Tours!

What Are The Mohawk River Boat Tours?

Starting Friday, June 10th, you will be able to take a two-hour scenic boat ride along the Mohawk River. The tour begins at Lock 7 and cruises the Mohawk River to Lock 8. It is open to everyone. Residents and visitors will be comfortable on a twenty-five-foot Tritoon boat. It is similar to a pontoon boat only larger. There will be a maximum of eight people per boat.

When Are The Tours Available?

You can ride The Mohawk Boat Tours every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The first tour is at 10 am then at 1 pm and at 4 pm. The tours run through mid-October. I bet the banks along the Mohawk River will be spectacular in the fall. You can reserve your tickets now for $45 per person. If you wish to reserve the entire boat, you can for $360. It is possible to reserve it longer. Four and Six-hour trips are available upon request. To reserve, go to the Mohawk River Boat Rides website by clicking HERE.

What Can We Expect?

Knowledgeable of the area, Captain George Kozer will be your guide. He is a local business owner and has been in the Capital Region for over twenty-five years. He said:

My top priority is always the safety of my passengers, followed by giving them a fun and historic ride on the Mohawk River.

Schenectady County Legislator Cathy Gatta who is the Chair of the Tourism, Arts & Special Events Committee is excited about the tours. She said:

We are excited to partner with Captain George Kozer to bring this attraction to Schenectady County. Not everyone has access to a boat of their own. These tours will allow visitors to learn about the Erie Canal’s rich history and enjoy the beauty of our community from a different perspective.

10 Stunning Capital Region Backyard Pools You Can Rent By the Hour

In an airbnb world, this may be one of the most genius ideas I have seen. Swimply has been around for a few years now and they basically apply the host rental strategy to pools: you can visit the website to find someone's backyard pool near you that you can rent by the hour. Many of these sweet backyard getaways also feature other great amenities like firepits, grills, and more. So the next time you want to cool off for an afternoon, avoid the crowded city pools and rent one of these backyard stunners!
