On Wednesday evening a Delaware County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a head-on motor vehicle collision on State Highway 10 in the Town of Walton that resulted in serious personal injury to the driver of an on-coming vehicle.  At the request of Sheriff Mills, investigation of the accident is being conducted by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Deputy Stephanie Proffitt was transported to Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton, where she was treated for a leg laceration and was released.  The driver of the second vehicle, 27 year old Amber L. Phraner of Walton, was airlifted to U.H.S. Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, where she remains in critical condition.

Further details of the accident will be released by the New York State Police upon conclusion of their investigation
