Davenport Man Sentenced for Sexually Exploiting a Child

A Delaware County man is to spend 25 years in federal prison for using a child to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography.

42-year-old Jeremie Hoyt of Davenport pleaded guilty in federal court to sexually exploiting a child and distributing and possessing child pornography in incidents that happened between August 2019 and November 2020.

A news release from the United States Attorney, Northern District of New York reports Hoyt admitted using a child to preform sexually explicit conduct so he could produce visual depictions of that conduct.  Hoyt admitted he produced a sexually explicit photograph and video of the child during the period in question. He further admitted he later distributed the sexually explicit image and video over the Internet to other users on a messaging application.  He also still possessed the sexually explicit image and video on his iPad when law enforcement searched his home in April of 2021.

In addition to the 25 year federal prison term, United States District Judge Glenn Suddaby also imposed a 30 year term of supervised release, which will start after Hoyt gets out of prison.  Hoyt is also ordered to pay a 500-dollar special assessment and is required to register as a sex offender.

According to the information from the U.S. Attorney’s office, Hoyt’s case was investigated by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations officials of the New York State Police, the Computer Crimes Unit and the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office.  The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Child that was launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice in order to marshal federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet and identify and rescue the victims.
