Where To Buy a Brightly Colored Live Christmas Tree in Central New York [GALLERY]

When I was a kid, my great aunt Marilyn had the most fantastic Christmas tree I'd ever laid eyes on. It was baby pink and clearly fake, but I could sit and stare at it for hours, completely enchanted. What I wouldn't give as an adult for my aunt Marilyn to still be alive because if she was, I would absolutely buy her a real-life pink Christmas tree this year.

Aunt Marilyn was always ahead of trends and she would just be tickled that someone came up with the idea to dye a real-life Christmas tree a vibrant and eye-catching color. I can hear her now exclaiming over just how "darling" colored Christmas trees are.

In the last few years the popularity of colored Christmas trees, real-life one,s by the way, has surged and what many thought would be a passing trend has only grown in popularity.

While Southern Tier area tree farmers are not yet offering colored Christmas trees, there are two businesses within a few hours of us that do offer colored Christmas trees and I figured that if you're someone who must have whatever it is you've got your heart set on, you wouldn't mind a drive.

One of the businesses that recently started selling colored Christmas trees is Buhrmaster Family Farm in Scotia which is just outside of Albany, closer to Binghamton. I grew up with the Buhrmasters and had the biggest crush on one of the boys. I'm pretty sure he had no idea of my existence but I still chuckle when I think back to those pretty awkward high school days.

If you don't want to make the trip to Scotia (to possibly lay eyes on my high school crush), there are also colored Christmas trees for sale in Rome and in Canastota.

Henderberg's Christmas Tree Farm in Rome is an hour and 50 minutes away from Binghamton and Buhrmaster's in Scotia which will take you two hours and 4 minutes to get to.

Before you head out, make sure to call FIRST to make sure whichever place you pick still has colored trees in stock. It would stink to make the trip and then leave empty-handed.
