At approximately 7:13 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, SUNY Delhi University Police and Delaware County 911 received calls indicating that a bomb had been placed in two classroom buildings--Evenden Tower and Sanford Hall--on the SUNY Delhi campus and set to explode at 9:30 a.m. The buildings have been evacuated by law enforcement personnel who have initiated a thorough search of the buildings. All classes scheduled for Evenden Tower and Sanford Hall today are canceled until further notice.

SUNY Delhi officials immediately instituted its Emergency Management Plan, evacuating the building and contacting local authorities. The buildings were lightly populated at that time because classes were not scheduled to begin until 8 a.m. Students, faculty and staff were notified of the evacuation via NY Alert, campus email and voice mail, and the college’s public address system. Email was also utilized to notify parents of the threat and steps that the college was taking.

Officials from Delhi Village Police, Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, Delaware County Emergency Management Office and New York State Police have responded and secured the perimeter of Evenden Tower. The buildings are in lock down. The State Police Canine Unit is being brought in to inspect the building.

At this time, authorities have indicated there is no reason to believe that there is a danger to any other building on campus because the threat received was very specific and targeted. All classes in buildings other than Evenden Tower and Sanford Hall will be held as scheduled.
