Worcester Weird Festival First of Its Kind In Otsego County

Last week's Hometown Throwdown feature was all about the hamlet of Worcester, New York, and within I mentioned the Worcester Weird Festival which happens this Saturday from noon-6pm with a special screening of Rocky Horror to follow. The festival will be held at Strawberry Hall, 174 Main St in Worcester, NY from noon-6pm. Rocky Horror starts at the Wieting Theatre at 7pm.

Festivals in the month of October are commonplace, and are usually rooted in the spooky side of things, especially as Halloween approaches. The Worcester Weird Festival sets itself apart via its offerings.

Vendor Offerings, Authors Set Festival Apart

Sure, there's vendors aplenty at Worcester Weird, but this event will be featuring an entire room of regional authors and artists ready to meet you and discuss their work. Genres such as horror, fantasy, splatterfolk and speculative fiction will all be represented. Look for horror, fantasy, and comic art as well.

For vendors, there's just too much to list. There's vendors that specialize in weird and wonderful items like steampunk garb and accessories, vendors that carry crystals and metaphysical items, witchy herbs, leatherworks, creepy dolls, hair tinsel, custom shirts and chainsaw carving too. There's even going to be a vendor with luxury tooth gems, tooth tattoos, and grill impressions.

Come hungry, there are a plethora of food trucks scheduled to appear with options for every preference. Into music? A DJ will be spinning classic goth, horror punk, and doom metal tracks.

Festival co-organizer Danielle Basso: "The Worcester Weird Festival is meant to bring together the lovers of all things weird and left of center, as well as those who love to read and art collectors. The daytime portion of the event is family friendly, and admission is free! Come join us and get weird in Worcester."

Stay Sane Inside Insanity

Local Rocky Horror Picture Show cast Inside Insanity will be presenting an encore performance at the Wieting Theater at 7pm. After garnering rave reviews for their Foothills Performing Arts Center performance on October 14th, the crew is bringing this one of a kind show to the classic theater. Expect a full shadow cast, audience participation lines, props, and tons of shenanigans.
