NYS Holds First Annual Museum Week From now through June 6 New York residents are encouraged to celebrate the first annual New York State Museum Week. State senator James Seward says that during the period, more than 200 museums will offer special events, activities and promotions to give guests a sample of the exhibitions and programs offered by the state’s nearly 2,000 museums.

Smokers will have a bit of a reprieve when lighting up in certain regions of New York State’s parks. The Parks Department declared a number of smoke-free areas around places where children gather, including playgrounds and pools back in April.

Accident During Bainbridge Parade Leaves 9-year-old Boy Dead A 9-year old boy was killed when he fell off a parade float at the Memorial Day parade. Oneonta Decides Fate of Local Schools Today It’s school budget day throughout New York State. This is the first year schools are limited to a 2 percent increase in taxes. The districts must get a 60 percent super majority vote to surpass the new state limit.
