Radio Contests From Days Gone By

I've been in radio since 1992 so you can imagine that when I saw this picture, I laughed.  You remember those days don't you?  Listening to your radio for the next giveaway and making sure that you weren't too far away from your phone (before cell phones of course) so that you could quickly dial that all important number, hoping beyond hope that you were the correct number caller.  Those days are all but gone.  Now, most giveaways are done via radio station websites which makes it less time sensitive and more enjoyable because there are many ways to enter to win prizes.  Right now in the Winners Circle here on our website, you can get into drawings for prizes by answering political trivia, playing our slot machine, entering the Song of the Day, taking a poll, playing Blackjack, or entering contest drawings.  That's much more exciting than just being the correct number caller through. Plus, there are several prizes to choose from, not just one like it used to be.  We're trying to make the experience of entering to win prizes fun.

So I don't know about you, but I'm happy the "Correct Number Caller" days are over.  It's no fun being told you didn't win and it's definitely not enjoyable being the one to tell people that they didn't win.
